SAN ANTONIO — Las Vegas oddsmakers are busy with 2024-25 NBA Draft prop futures and projecting the San Antonio Spurs' win-total.
According to oddsmaker Draft Kings, the Spurs' win-total projection is 35.5.
The Spurs finished the 2023-24 season with a mere 22 wins. Jumping to a projected 35.5 wins is a step forward in the right direction (albeit the win-total bar is set low), but is it selling the team short?
The Spurs brought in veterans Chris Paul and Harrison Barnes. Both should help the Spurs win more games with their presence on and off the court to help the young team improve.
In addition, Paul's history shows that each team he's landed with has seen a spike in wins.
Also, the young Spurs have experience from last season, which they can bring into the new season.
For instance, Devin Vassell, Keldon Johnson, Tre Jones, Jeremy Sochan, and Zach Collins aren't first or second-year players anymore. They are seasoned NBA vets that should positively impact the team.
Of course, there is Victor Wembanyama, who will only improve and has added more size to his frame entering his sophomore NBA season.
Barring any significant injuries to key players, the Spurs should be able to reach 35 wins, and no one should be surprised to see them go over that win-total projection.
