The Bexar County Sheriff's Office said it was creating a special task force amid the search, but hasn't provided a substantial update since then.

SAN ANTONIO — Two months after a pair of masked gunmen were seen on video shooting dozens of rounds into a northeast-San Antonio home, a brazen attack that officials said was targeted and killed a young girl, law enforcement continues to search for the suspects.

On the evening of May 8, the shooters pulled up near the home in the 3700 block of Windsor Hollow carrying what authorities called AK-47-style guns. Inside was a family of five.

The gunmen fired into the home before taking off in the same car they arrived in, leaving the residence riddled with bullet holes. A 4-year-old girl, Maryann Marble, was declared dead in the hours after the shooting; her other family members, including her parents and young brothers, spent time in the hospital

"My world ended, my stomach dropped," Maryann's grandfather, Hector Castillo, told KENS 5. "I don't wish this on nobody."

The Bexar County Sheriff's Office (BCSO) is leading the investigation and search for the suspects, who haven't been publicly identified. Two days after the shooting, Sheriff Javier Salazar said the car believed to have been used to flee the scene was found abandoned on the far west side.

"I have no doubt they were after the people in that home for whatever reason and were there to inflict maximum damage," Salazar said after the attack unfolded.

In the last substantial update provided on June 10, BCSO said it was creating a special task force "comprising of multiple units within the sheriff's office to investigate and apprehend those responsible." Asked what the task force entails, a BCSO spokesperson told KENS 5 it involved the agency's covert and intel units, tech personnel who specialize in cybersecurity, and the fugitive apprehension unit focusing their efforts to solve the case.

The agency did not respond to KENS 5's requests for information on the latest in the investigation on Monday. Salazar has said the gunmen face the possibility of capital murder charges once caught.

Anyone with information about the case is urged to call (210) 224-STOP.
